Artist Bio
Jennifer Greenburg is a contemporary artist whose work examines how photographic images construct belief and shape cultural memory. She holds an MFA from the University of Chicago and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is held in nine museum collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography. She has presented solo exhibitions internationally, including at the Print Center in Philadelphia, Klompching Gallery in Brooklyn, the Head-On Festival in Sydney, and Cortona on the Move in Italy. Her monograph The Rockabillies was published by the Center for American Places and selected as a Book Pick by the New York Times. Greenburg held a CherryHurst House Fellowship at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and was an artist in residence at Light Work. Her recent series, Constructed Portraits: Make Her More Beautiful, uses artificial intelligence to interrogate societal beauty standards and our assumptions about photographic truth. The work was acquired by LACMA and included in the exhibition Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film.
Greenburg's practice extends into immersive media and therapeutic design. She is co-inventor of a U.S. patented immersive media chair developed in collaboration with a developmental pediatrician at Thomas Jefferson University, where she currently serves as Program Director at the Center for Autism and Neurodiversity
Teaching & Speaking
Jennifer Greenburg specializes in curriculum development, degree formation, and learning assessment. She develops teaching materials to support neurodivergent learners and teaches technology using accessible and inclusive strategies. She served as Photography Program Director and Associate Professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia until June 2024, when the university announced an unprecedented immediate closure. Prior to that appointment, she was a tenured Associate Professor of Fine Art at Indiana University Northwest. Greenburg has been invited to speak and hold workshops around the globe.
